“I’ve had three main objectives when I was founding law firm KOUBÍKOVÁ LEGAL. Firstly, I wanted to benefit from my long experience as an international lawyer and I wanted to build a law firm specialized in cross-border cases and international private law. Secondly, I wished to offer something more to clients seeking legal services – a wide range of services, a wide range of foreign languages spoken and knowledge of international environment, so our clients can be sure that we understand them while solving their problems, be it linguistic understanding, legal understanding or understanding of the international context. And thirdly, I wished to join together a group of people who share the same values and are determined to fight for the best interest of our clients, keeping in mind that being an attorney-at-law is not just a profession, it is a mission. I hope and believe that we are fulfilling these objectives at our law firm.”

Silvie started to gain her first practical experience in law during her studies at the Law Faculty of Charles University in Prague, when she started to work as a paralegal at a law firm in Prague in 2005. In order to maximize her practical experience during her studies, Silvie did an internship at the civil section of the District Court for Prague 2, during which she had been shadowing the President of the Court, as well as an internship at the criminal section of the District Court for Prague 2, during which she had been shadowing the Vice-President of the Court for criminal matters.

Silvie graduated from the Law Faculty of Charles University in Prague in 2008, passing summa cum laude. She continued to work as a junior lawyer at the same law firm in Prague. Given her previous experience and knowledge of several foreign languages, since the beginning Silvie has been focusing on international private law cases, in other words she dealt with cross-border cases and cases with international element. “Dealing with international cases enable me to combine my two favourite focuses – law and foreign languages. It also gives me a unique opportunity to gain experience in foreign jurisdictions and to collaborate with lawyers abroad, which is very enriching for me personally and very useful for my clients.” Silvie has been dealing with national and international cases mainly in civil law, commercial law, family law and litigation.

In 2012, Silvie passed the examination of the Czech Bar Association, again passing summa cum laude, and was registered as an independent attorney-at-law within the Czech Bar Association. She pursued her career at the same law firm, now working as a senior lawyer and managing partner. Silvie kept providing legal services to her clients and embarked on various firm management tasks, being one of the people in the management of the firm. In 2014, Silvie was chosen by the Paris Bar Association to participate in an internship in Paris, together with 50 other attorneys-at-law from all over the world. “I took lectures in French law and EU law at Ecole de Formation des Barreaux in Paris, which is a school for future French lawyers, for one month. Afterwards I spent one more month working at the law firm of Mr Herve Boukobza, attorney-at-law in Paris, with whom I collaborated on his cases.” Silvie gained valuable experience in French law and EU law during her Paris internship, which is highly appreciated by her French speaking clients.

In the spring of 2017, Silvie decided to benefit from her national and international legal experience previously gained during twelve years in legal profession and founded law firm KOUBÍKOVÁ LEGAL.

Besides legal profession, Silvie also regularly participates both as a speaker and a participant in national and international conferences, lectures and workshops organized by the Czech Bar Association and other institutions. When giving lectures, Silvie usually speaks on international private law topics, drawing the attention of both professionals and public to specific issues related to cross-border cases. Law is a very dynamic field and so every attorney must renew his knowledge periodically.

Since 2016 Silvie cooperates with the Czech Television and provides legal counselling in a TV programme called The Black Sheep, which helps to protect consumers’ rights. This activity is done on a pro bono basis. Since 2018 Silvie is a member of the Association of Family Attorneys and a member of the French-Czech Chamber of Commerce. In 2019, KOUBÍKOVÁ LEGAL has joined a European group of law firms called Cyrus Ross, which brings Silvie to one of the European capitals to a meeting of the group every six months.

Silvie speaks Czech, English, French and Spanish.
