Attorney-at-law, Of Counsel
eric@koubikovalegal.eu

Eric is a bi-cultural attorney-at-law. He comes from the United States where he obtained a doctorate in law at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Eric then moved to Paris where he studied law at the University of Paris II Pantheón-Assas where he also practiced law. Eric is attorney-at-law registered with the Paris Bar Association and the United States Bar Association. In that context, Eric is authorized to provide legal services in the field of French and American law. In the Czech Republic, Eric is registered with the Czech Bar Association as an established European lawyer.

Eric provides legal services to individuals and companies in matters that involve both French and American issues. His education, training and practical experience in the system of Anglo-American and continental law as well as his background give Eric a very good understanding of the legal, psychological, linguistic and cultural barriers which individuals and companies regularly face in cross-border cases.

The knowledge of both the Anglo-American and Civil law systems gives Eric a deep insight into the subtle, but potentially critical distinctions between the different concepts and ways of thinking that can easily be lost in translation if the lawyer is not bilingual. That is what makes Eric an important part of KOUBÍKOVÁ LEGAL law firm with which he has been cooperating since July 2019 as attorney-at-law Of Counsel. Eric specializes in cases with French and American elements.

In addition, Eric teaches law at the Anglo-American University in Prague. In the past, Eric taught at several universities in France, including Université Paris X and Université de Franche-Comté where he taught international private law and business negotiation.

Eric speaks English, French, Portuguese and Italian.
